Buy a PS3 Slim to Play Heavy Rain While PSN is Down

On the day that TQcast finally receives Heavy Rain for the PS3, the damn PSN is down and affecting my fat PS3 from playing any games. Now, I read via the PlayStation Blog that the PSN issues may be resolved in the next 24 hours. I have been having anxiety attacks for the past few weeks, waiting on Heavy Rain. I can either sue Sony for my anxiety attacks, go out and buy a PS3 slim tonight while the PSN is down and start on my Heavy Rain Journey, or I fire up my 360 (no pun intended) and play some Deadly Premonition until my eyes bleed or the PSN comes back on. ***PSN is back up and running like it should, even for the FAT PS3’s.*** The issue was due to the system thinking it was a leap year, and the network not allowing it to go through since it is not a leap year. A little Y2K fo yo azz!.

The PSN has been down since approximately 6:30pm today. Apparently, this is affecting all games with trophy support. Demos appear to be the only games working at this point. The good news is, it is only affecting the Fat PS3’s, not the PS3 slims. The bad news is, it seems as if the gaming industry, forums, blog, sites all over the world–have already started talking smack about the PSN’s reliability and performance. It was almost too good to be true, the PS3 was in such a roll. Be ready to start hearing it from the Xbox 360 fan base. Let’s just hope all of our trophies synced once the network comes back up. “Mass Effect time” (more…)

God of War 3 vs. Mass Effect 2 for GOTY

God of War 3 vs. Mass Effect 2 is the Uncharted 2 vs. MW2 of 2010. Last year, many gamers believed Infinity Ward would take all of the “Game of the Year” awards with its multiplatform FPS Modern Warfare 2. Instead, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2 put all the MW2 vs. U2 talk to rest– by sweeping the GOTY awards, and still receiving more awards in 2010. This year with Mass Effect 2 already getting a huge buzz for GOTY and God of War 3 being just weeks away from what could be Sony’s biggest release yet — the excitement feels much like it did when Uncharted 2 was weeks away from store shelves.
