Unlock or Delete: Painkiller: Hell & Damnation Demo (Xbox 360)

Just tried out the demo for Painkiller: Hell & Damnation today, and in all honesty, it was a pretty boring experience. The demo itself is around 658 MB or so, and is currently available for download on Xbox Live. So what did I think of it? Well, aside from the enjoyable secondary fire aspects of your weapons, this is pretty much your standard, by the books, redundant FPS. Let’s take a moment to go over the highs and low of my experience with this one, shall we?

The Good: You can play through the campaign with a friend. There are a variety of weapons to choose from.

The Bad: Online MP options aren’t fun or unique at all, visuals are about as dated as they come, a lack of an aiming button makes enemies very difficult to kill, sound effects don’t really pack a punch at all whatsoever.

The Ugly: Gameplay is extremely repetitive, and never changes anything up to keep players on their toes during matches.

Final Demo Verdict: Painkiller: Hell & Damnation is a forgettable FPS that will sooner than later make its way to the bargain bin. Just delete it and move on with your life.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows Raph Character Trailer

Hot-tempered and aggressive, Raphael is the red-draped bad boy of the Turtles squad in TMNT: Out of the Shadows. He’s sarcastic, and also a loner, but underneath his rough exterior lies an everlasting love for his family. Raph’s style is a little more on the aggressive side, and the majority of his attacks focus more on brute force than anything else, which more often than not will leave opponents begging for mercy. Just like any other ill tempred person though, Raph’s fury is his shortcoming.

Microsoft Follows Sony by Dropping Xbox One DRM and Mandatory Internet

It was bound to happen after the beating Sony gave Microsoft this past E3. Microsoft has announced that an internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

In addition — trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360….and the PS4.

However, Microsoft has kept the $499.99 price.

These 3 Games Will Put the Wii U in a Good Position This Year

During a recent E3 Nintendo meeting/interview, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America mentioned that he isn’t worried about the PS4 or Xbox One, he has seen this same situation in the past with the Wii Vs. the Xbox 360 and PS3, and ultimately Nintendo came out on top. Reggie believes that 3 titles will put the Wii U in a great spot this holiday season.

“You know, I think by the end of this holiday, after we’ve launched Wind Waker, after we’ve launched Donkey Kong Country, after we’ve launched Mario 3D World, I think we’re going to be in a very good position.”

What do you think, Yay or Nay? I personally think that the Mario game is money, not so sure about the other two. Well, I take that back…Country looks nice, wouldn’t mind red boxing that one if redbox ever gets Wii U games.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate Gameplay Video

Here’s some extended gameplay footage for Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the PS Vita. I had no idea that the game was a side scroller. I’ve been reading some of the youtube comments and it appears that most people are a bit disappointed by the fact that it’s a side scroller. I think it looks rather unique. It’s a side scroller, but it has some nice unique camera angles in the mix. The up and close shots really show great detail. Take a look below.

FlashBack Fridays: DuckTales NES Gets Remastered

I may be a little late to the party, but wow I still can’t believe that the NES version of Ducktales is getting remastered. Nostalgia in full effect over here! Earlier this year, our very own Mr.B4 captured some footage of the game during PAX east. Today I found another video. An NES Vs. Remastered comparison video below by IGN. I’m blown away on how good it looks.

The funny thing about this is that I never finished the original game. Even as a kid, I was aware at the fact that most video games created after movies or cartoons rarely lived up to the hype. I actually learned my lesson the hard way with Friday the 13th for the NES. However, the memories I have of the game and for that matter the whole DuckTales’ universe is something I will never forget and I will always have a special place for it in my heart. With that said, I think you should take a look at the video below and see the incredible work the people over at WayForward have accomplished. Not only is Ducktales Remastered updated with hand-drawn art, but the game has the original cartoon’s voice actors, including now 93 years young Alan young who voices Scrooge McDuck.

Ducktales Remastered is scheduled to arrive this summer for Wii U eShop, PSN, XBLA, and PC.

Always ready with a punch and a punchline, the orange-draped Michelangelo puts a literal spin on the phrase “”party animal”" in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Even though he is the life of the party, Mikey is no less committed to the cause than his brothers. He moves around the battlefield and disposes of enemies before anybody even knows he is there. Be careful though, because even though he is the fastest turtle around, he isn’t necessarily the toughest.

Nintendo Download of the Week: 06/13 Edition

It’s that time once again to check out what’s new in the world of Nintendo Downloads. This is going to be a tough decision for me today because almost everything on offer here looks enjoyable for the most part. Let’s face facts though, if I picked every game here, this wouldn’t be much of an update. Keeping that idea in mind, let’s take a look at which title made the cut, shall we?

After some careful consideration (which resulted in a coin toss) my pick for Nintendo Download of the Week is Mighty Switch Force 2 for the 3DS Download Service. It has an ESRB rating of E10+, and is currently available for download through the 3DS eShop at the asking price of $5.99. The reason why I picked this one was rather simple, I enjoyed the previous entry in the series, that’s it. If you feel the same way I do, then by all means download this title as soon as possible.

Not interested in switching things up, don’t worry, there is still one new Wii U Download title, two new 3DS Download titles, and four new 3DS VC titles for you to check out. Don’t try to get your feet too dirty in Mutant Mudds Deluxe. See how well home ec class worked out for you when playing Picross e. Be sure to stock on plenty of bait before heading out to sea in Big Bass Arcade: No Limit. Learn just how fast this little creature can be in Sonic The Hedgehog.

As usual, one paragraph won’t do it, so here we go. Feel the wrath of Sonic’s Arch nemesis, puzzle style, in Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. Enjoy one of the best RPG franchises of all time in portable form when playing Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya. The name of this game says it all, Columns.

Nintendo has revealed an extended E3 trailer for New Super Luigi U, the upcoming downloadable expansion to New Super Mario Bros. U. Take a look:

New Super Luigi U comes with 80 remixed levels and will be available as standalone DLC from the Nintendo eShop in June, or as a slightly more expensive boxed release in August.

Final Fantasy XV Coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto said the game is developed on DirectX 11, which allows for easy porting from PlayStation 4 to Xbox One. Square Enix’s fiscal year ends on March 31, 2014, which means that it will be almost another year at the very least before Final Fantasy XV is complete. Damn, look at that hair flowing with the wind.

Bayonetta 2 E3 Trailer Revealed

Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U will feature Normal and Touch gameplay styles. Normal mode represents the classic control scheme like the previous game. Touch mode will offer a very convenient play style aimed for the casual gamers. Players will use the GamePad controller’s touch screen to easily manipulate Bayonetta as she moves, attacks, and evades enemies.
