Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer: Volume 15

Keep the big bills at home, it’s time for another installment of Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer. If you are unsure about what’s going on here, please refer to our previous article for more information. Today we are going to take a look at something that recreates an all time classic in a fun, and also very creative way. Let’s move to find out exactly what I’m talking about, shall we?

The Fifteenth title in our collection is a  $5 top down shooter experience for the 3DS and Wii entitled Centipede Infestation. The setup goes like this, your main in placed in an arena, and it’s up to him to use an unrelenting amount of ammunition to dispose of every enemy on the screen. Things do change up a little bit along the way with open areas to explore, and intense boss battles to fight, but the formula basically stays the same throughout the entire experience. Sounds simple enough right? Well, it is for the most part, but there is enough challenge here that would even make veteran gamers blush.

As usual, let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. The only real issue I have with this game as a whole is with it’s visual presentation. There’s no visual flare to the level design at all. If I had to pick one more problem it would have to be the story, it’s completely forgettable. Other than that though, everything else here is on the up and up, and that’s a good thing.

Now let’s end things on a positive note. The gameplay is fast, frenetic, and challenging to say the least. Controls are standard and easy to understand, making blowing up insects as fun as humanly possible. As difficult as some levels are to complete, some pretty sweet powerups ( ice gun, lasers, bombs, etc.) help even things up nicely. Replay value is also high here with different medals to unlock for completing stage specific goals as well. Last, but not least, a $5 price tag for a game as massive as this is well worth the price of admission, trust me.

If you are looking for an intense shooter on the go, Centipede Infestation will fill that void in a big way, buy it now.
