PS4 Requires Internet Connection To Watch A Blu-Ray

Reading through the day one system update for the Playstation 4 (1.50), I noticed that in order to watch a Blu-Ray or DVD, you must have internet access. Wow, so why were people upset at Microsoft again?

It’s very interesting to see how Sony is doing many things with the PS4 exactly how Microsoft unleashed it day one to the public, but under the radar.

Blu-ray Disc and DVD player
Users can enjoy not only gaming on their PS4 system, but also Blu-ray and DVD video contents. When using for the first time, users must connect to the internet to activate this feature.”

The reason I put this article together is to prove to those Microsoft haters that you’re going to need internet regardless of what console you buy. Many people were bashing the Xbox One for having to be online 24/7, but the truth of the matter is that we are living in an age where internet connection is a must for new technologies and it almost pains me to see these console features unfold while gamers hating on Microsoft pretend like they didn’t read that part of the update or feature. So if you think you can watch a blu-ray or DVD on your PS4 right out of the box… think again. Microsoft at the very least has been strait up with consumers.

Are you retarted?!? Did you not realize that the only need on internet is for the patch that enables playback. Or you just weren’t going to mention it because you’re so much of a microslop fag fanbitch

So if I buy a PS4 which is essentially a Blu-Ray player, you’re telling me that I can watch a Blu-Ray as soon as I get home without setting it up to the internet? I have company coming over and they are bringing a Blu-Ray movie from Redbox to watch. I just unpacked my PS4, you’re telling me that since it’s essentially a Blu-Ray player, I won’t be able to watch a “Blu-Ray” unless I connect to the internet first?

I really want to hear your response, because the point is you have to connect to the internet before watching a Blu-Ray on your “Blu-Ray” player. So to answer your question, nope, I’m not retarded, I actually know how to read. If you are having a hard time reading, I’ll paste the Sony update details. As a matter of fact here you go:

      “Blu-ray Disc and DVD player

Users can enjoy not only gaming on their PS4 system, but also Blu-ray
and DVD video contents. When using for the first time, users must
connect to the internet to activate this feature.”

Only for the first time though, it’s not a constantly required connection. And i wouldn’t say the PS4 is ‘essentially a blu-ray player’ as it certainly does more. Unless BR players can play games? (No, i’m not a sony fanboy, only sony console I’ve owned was the ps2 and briefly a vita)
