Just got a chance to try out Marlow Briggs and The Mask of Death today, and to tell you the truth, I was pleasantly surprised how much fun I had with it. The game itself is around 2.03 GB or so, and is currently available for download on Xbox Live. So what did I think of it? Well, despite being an idea that’s been tried before by a number of different developers, my experience here was quite enjoyable. Let’s take a moment to go over the highs and low of my experience with this one, shall we?
The Good: Controls are easy to understand, and are responsive for the most part. Gameplay is fun, challenging, and addictive. The level designs and animations are vibrant and full of life. Voice acting is amusing, and can actually be helpful in solving some puzzles as well.
The Bad: The moments where you need to use a turret can sometimes feel clunky (an auto lock feature would have helped). Other than that little issue though, I can’t really think of anything else to complain about whatsoever.
Final Demo Verdict: Marlow Briggs and The Mask of Death may not be original, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t fun to play. Fans of brutal beat em ups/platformers should give this one a shot, enough said.
