Welcome once again folks to another installment of Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer. If you are unsure about what’s going on here, please refer to our previous article for more information. Today we are going to take a look at another fun platformer that has made it’s way into the Nintendo universe, who knew? Let’s move to find out exactly what I’m talking about, shall we?
The thirteenth title in our collection is a $4.99 Wii U Download that goes by the name of Kung Fu Rabbit. Basically you move your character from end of a level to another, collect carrots along the way for points, reach the end of the level without dying, and that’s about it. There are a number of different worlds to play through that range from swamps to temples, and so on. Sounds like a straight up concept right? Well, it is for the most part, but the difficulty level ramps up from stage to stage, so be careful, because one wrong move could result in complete disaster.
As usual, let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. My two main issues here are with the sometimes slippery controls, and the underwhelming visuals. The control layout can sometimes cause you to die, without even trying to do so. While the overall visual presentation doesn’t do anything to ruin the gameplay in particular, the backgrounds and characters models are still pretty bland for the most part.
Now on the good stuff. First of all, the gameplay itself is enjoyable throughout the entire experience. Controls are straightforward too, making it easy for gamers of all ages to pick up and play. I also really liked the different powerups your rabbit could obtain, mainly because they came in handy during some of the more difficult stages later in the game. Replay value, which came in the form of achievements, unlockable costumes, etc. will give me a number of different reasons to come back for multiple playthroughs in the near future. Finally, for $4.99, this is an absolute steal for those of you who are looking for something to do before some bigger titles hit the shelves later this holiday season.
If you are looking for a fun platformer on the cheap, give Kung Fu Rabbit a shot, download it now.
In case you missed it, here is a trailer for the game, enjoy!
