Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer: Volume 9

It’s that time once again to put your spare change to good use in another installment of Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer. If you are unsure about what’s going on here, please refer to previous articles for more information. Today we are going to take a journey on over to the 3DS to take a look at a digital version of what is quite possibly the most mundane activity of all time. Let’s move on to find out exactly what that is, shall we?

The ninth title in our collection is a $2.99 download for the 3DS entitled Kersploosh!. You take control of a stone that has been thrown into a well by someone else, and it’s your job to navigate your way to the bottom as fast as possible. A number of objects will get in the way of making this happen, and they range from something as obvious as blocks of wood, to something as ridiculous as slices of pizza. Sounds pretty simple right? Well, it is for the most part, but the difficulty level does ramp in the later stages though, which will without a doubt separate the men from the boys.

Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. My first issue was the fact that some of the stones were just way too difficult to control. The only other problem I had was the fact that the game was over way too fast, it literally only took me about a half an hour or so to complete. Aside from these issues, my experience with this one was still very enjoyable for the most part.

Now let’s take a moment to end this segment on a good note. The controls were extremely easy to understand, all they required the player to do was to use the joystick to move, that’s it. As far as gameplay goes, changes in scenery make each new level exciting to play. Despite my issues with length, a nice amount of replay value including unlockable stones, and the ability to share high scores through StreetPass, definitely gives people a reason to play through the game more than once. The visual style was ok too, but was nothing to get excited about either. Finally, for only $3, gamers can delve into a quality download that will keep them occupied for hours at a time, a no brainer decision, am I right?

If you are interested in falling down a well with style, then Kersploosh! is definitely the game for you, download it now.
