Just played the demo for HarmoKnight yesterday, and to be honest with you, I had a great time with it. The demo itself will take up 457 blocks of free space on your Nintendo 3DS, and is currently available for download through the Nintendo eShop. So what did I think of it? Well, despite being from a genre I’m all too familiar with, what’s on offer here is actually quite unique in it’s own right. Let’s take a moment to go over the highs and low of my experience with this one, shall we?
The Good: Gameplay is simple, yet challenging, the visual style is fairly decent for this type of experience, the control scheme is extremely easy to understand, and a surprising sense of humor definitely keeps things from getting stale.
The Bad: Controls are not always responsive, especially when a number of different actions have to be performed in a row without stopping. Other than that, nothing.
Final Demo Verdict: Even though there a few issues here and there with controls, people will still find plenty of things to enjoy about HarmoKnight. Anybody interested in exciting platformers will have to give this one a chance, sadly though, they are going to have to wait a couple of weeks to do so (March 28th to be exact).
Still not convinced, maybe this trailer will help change your mind, enjoy!
