Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer: Volume 2

Hello everybody, welcome to another installment of Monday Savings For The Everyday Gamer. If you are unsure about what’s going on here, please refer to our previous article for more information. Today we are going to take a look at a tower defense experience that is just as easy on the eyes as it is on your wallet. Let’s move to find out exactly what I’m talking about, shall we?

The second title in our collection is a free XBLA game that goes by the name of Happy Wars. You are basically one of three different type of warriors commanding an army of soldiers, and the main goal is to destroy the enemies base before they destroy yours. People can play as three different classes, Warrior, Cleric, and Mage, and each one has their own set of abilities that can aid their team in battle, but I will leave that up to you to find out what they are. Sounds simple enough to be an enjoyable experience right? Well, it is for the most part, but there are some issues which occur along the way that keep you aware of the idea that just because something is free, doesn’t mean it’s always perfect.

As always, let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. One, online matchmaking can sometimes be a chore to get through, and may have players disconnecting from matching moire often than they would like to.  My only other problem here is the fact that in order to complete more levels in the single player campaign, people will be required to level up their characters up to a certain point in multiplayer. Other than these two issues, I can’t really think of anything else bad here, and I’m happy with that, no pun intended.

Now on to the good aspects of this title, which thankfully outweigh the bad ones by a large margin. Controls are extremely simple and easy to understand. The overall visual style is cute and easy on the eyes for the most part. You can also play matches online with a large group of people, which is always a nice feature. Finally, the game is free, and offers plenty of features that most titles on this service require gamers to spend 800 MSP or more to have.

If you are looking for a simple, yet very enjoyable tower defense adventure on the cheap, Happy Wars will satisfy those cravings and then some, download it now.
