Just got a chance to check out the trial version of Double Dragon Neon for the XBLA and it was actually an enjoyable experience. The trial itself is around 2.26 GB or so and is currently available for download on Xbox Live. So what are my thoughts on the game? Well, it’s a fun but definitely flawed title that only a niche crowd will really care about. Let’s take some time now to go over the highs and lows of my time with the game, shall we?
The Good: Background music is catchy, controls are pretty easy to understand, the visual style is a nice combination of both modern and retro graphics, special moves are as enjoyable to watch as they are to pull off, and the sense of humor keeps the gameplay from becoming boring and repetitive.
The Bad: The voice acting is terrible, gameplay is extremely repetitive even for a beat em’ up, hit detection can be a little bit off at times as well.
Final Demo Verdict: It has some issues here and there, but in the end, Double Dragon Neon is still worth your time despite them, so download it now.
