Got a chance to check out the trial version of the last Summer of Arcade title Dust: An Elysian Tail recently, and it was actually a pretty enjoyable experience. The trial version is around 592 MB or so, and is currently available for download on Xbox Live. So what did I think of it? Well, I thought that what these developers had to offer was not only beautiful to look at, but also very fun to play. Let’s take some time now to go over the highs and lows of my experience, shall we?
The Good: The visual style, in terms of level and character design, is extremely beautiful. Controls may seem complicated at first, but they actually become pretty easy to understand after awhile. Background music adds a huge level of tension to every enemy encounter. Multiple areas to explore without a doubt adds a large amount of replay value as well.
The Bad: The gameplay, although fun, does get repetitive after awhile. Voice acting is very cheesy, and sometimes even downright annoying to listen to.
Final Demo Verdict: If you’re in the mood for an old fashioned hack and slash adventure with exploration elements thrown in for good measure then by all means download this game as soon as possible.
