Checked out the demo yesterday for the 3DS game entitled Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure, and all I can say is it was a lot of fun. The demo is around 800 blocks or so, and is currently available for download on the 3DS right now through the Nintendo eShop. So what did I think of it? Well, Sega definitely let their creative juices flow here, because this is one of the most creative experiences that I’ve had on a handheld console in quite some time. Let’s take a moment to see just how fun this title is, shall we?
The Good: Gameplay is varied, easy to understand, and extremely addictive. The art style is over the top, yet entirely understandable for the subject matter. Background music is catchy. Voice overs are more entertaining than they are annoying. Ranking system adds almost an endless amount of replay value. Three different situations were available to try out.
The Bad: Controls had the tendency to be unresponsive every once in awhile, especially when it came to performing actions with the stylus. Frame rate is a little choppy. Demo was short, and took only about 5 minutes to complete.
Final Demo Verdict: Without question, I am completely interested in giving this game a chance, enough said.
