Hey there TQ Fam, I know it has been a long while since you’ve heard from me so I figured it was about time you knew what I’ve been up to. This week the Penny Arcade East Expo came to Boston, Massachusetts, and as you might have figured out already, yours truly was there enjoying everything this great event has to offer. Just wrapped up the first day here, so let’s take time to check out some highlights.
My first appointment was over at the Warner Bros. booth to check out Mortal Kombat for the Playstation Vita, and Lollipop Chainsaw for the Xbox 360. The new gameplay tweaks made to MK were alright, but felt like tacked on gimmicky additions in order to try to utilize what features this system had to offer more than anything else. As far as Lollipop goes, everything was functional, but the experience was nothing more than a simple hack and slash game with quicktime events thrown in to change things up, which they didn’t.
The other demo session that I had scheduled was for a Kinect related title coming to Xbox Live Arcade named Wreckateer. The game is essentially like Angry Birds with a medieval theme, and Kinect motion controls (can’t explain it much better than that). Everything worked fine and blowing up building after building was extremely fun to do. My only real problem was when I was trying to aim the ball to a specific part of a castle in order to score a lot of points, for some reason, it just never happened.
Other than these two appointments, the rest of my time was filled with playing so many different games to the point of where one article is just not going to do them any justice at all. Still, it was a fun filled day to remember, and I hope tomorrow is just as great and memorable. Be on the lookout for more updates from Pax East 2012 right here at TQCast.com.
P.S.- Just for fun, here’s the list of games I played today, feel free to ask me questions about them in the comments below.
