There is something that I would like to share with all of you before the night is out. When a person gives someone else money as a Christmas present, chances are they want that person to spend it on something useful, and not just blow it on a video game. If you haven’t figured it out already, I used the cash to pick up a game that I have been interested in for quite some time, Flingsmash. Even though a number of different review sites have given this title a bad rap, I have to say that it isn’t as bad as they’re making it out to be.
To be perfectly honest though, my decision to purchase this had more to do with the fact that it came with a Wii Remote Plus controller than anything else. My thought process worked like this, if the game sucks, at least the new controller will make the $50 price tag a little bit easier to deal with. If anybody out there purchased Wii Play back in the day then you know exactly what I’m talking about. After taking it home, and playing a few levels, the feeling of possibly getting ripped off started to fade away.
Who would have thought that something so simple could end up being so much fun? Think of this game as pong in constant motion, but instead of moving one block across the screen, you have to destroy a number of different blocks in order to reach the goal. What impressed me the most here was with how responsive the controls were. The character would move exactly in the direction the Wii Remote was pointing and if a mistake was made, with the hit of a button, your little buddy would stop on a dime, and give the player time to correct their shot.
If you are looking for something a little bit on the unusual side, but a lot of fun as well, then by all means check out Flingsmash, the investment will be worth it.
