Late Night Gamer: Psych

Before the night is out, there is something that I would like to share with all of you. Over the past few years my interest in shows on the USA Network have dramatically increased. It just seems like every time they come out with something new it’s usually worth checking out, and quite possibly one of the best programs on there is a little comedy/detective show called Psych.

For those of you who are not familiar with this show, here is a quick little rundown of what it’s all about. A slacker turned psychic detective named Shawn (played by James Roday), and his uptight friend Gus (played by Dule Hill), are owners of their own detective agency. The way that this all got started was when Shawn called in a tip to his local police department about a case he saw on the news, which caused the arresting officers to believe that he was somehow in on it as well. After being asked where this information came from, Shawn told them that he was psychic, and the rest is history.

The key hook to all of this is, you may have guessed it already, is that our main character has no psychic abilities whatsoever. What Shawn really brings to the table are great observational skills, a good sense of surroundings, and an unhealthy amount of knowledge about events that occurred in the 1980’s, that’s it. Combine that with about as nerdy of a friend as they come in Gus, and you have the makings of a dynamic duo that will bring the laughs just about every time they appear together onscreen. When these two are working together on a case, almost nothing ever gets done, but to be honest with all of you, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

If anybody else out there is a fan of this show, please share your favorite moments with us in the comments below. Also, don’t forget to check out the fall finale this Wednesday at 10pm eastern/ 9pm central on USA Network.
