Late Night Gamer: Skylanders

Even though it has been a very exhausting day, there is still something I want to share with all of you before the night is out. On black friday, I decided to pickup Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure (for Wii) at Wal-Mart for $50 bucks. After taking the game home and playing it for awhile, a strange feeling started to overtake me, and I felt like it was almost an obligation of mine to own every character that has been released for the title. My girlfriend and I even went so far as to create a list of specific characters we wanted to have, and then we went out on a mission to as many stores as possible in order to find them.

After a couple of days worth of searching for things, one thing is for certain, they are incredibly difficult to find. It took trips to over 15 different stores for me to find every single specific character on the list. To make things even more difficult, the developers decided to only make certain characters available in packs for systems I don’t have. As if this wasn’t bad enough, certain stores, such as Target and Wal-Mart, are doing exclusive character promotions, which made it an even more daunting task to find the ones I wanted to have.

In the end, everything worked out, and for the most part, the collection is complete. Even though we claimed to only wanting one character per ability, you know that eventually this will turn into a wanting them all type of situation. Regardless of this, our playtime with the game has been enjoyable so far, and we can’t wait to see what new surprises await us in future playthroughs. Activision, you have created something truly special that will be sucking money out of peoples wallets for many months to come, nice work.
