Hello everybody, welcome to another installment of the Indie Game Showcase. If you are unfamiliar with what’s going on here, please refer to previous articles for more information. The game we are going to talk about today is called TIC, an action adventure experience made by Red Candy Games. This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful designed and imaginative titles that I have ever seen on the service to date, let’s find out more about it, shall we?
TIC is an industrial robot who lives in the small oil mining town known as Copperville. After his home becomes invaded by the almighty EvilCorp, he decides to embark on a quest to set everything back to normal before every bit of oil is lost for good. Desperate to set things right, our little friend decides to go ahead and destroy every single drill the bad guys have. The gameplay tends to focus on a mixture of platforming, hitting switches, and collecting acorns (yes i said acorns) in order to gain new abilities.
One of my favorite things about this game were the beautiful level designs. Most experiences on the service tend to take a more simplistic approach in this department, but these developers decided to create a world that was just as much fun to look at as it was to explore. A high level of challenge was a nice touch as well. Quick reactions, along with a heightened sense of awareness, will definitely separate the men from the boys, and more than likely, a number of obscenities will spew out from your mouth even after the credits roll.
A minor drawback, which seems to be a running theme with these kind of titles, is the fact that the entire experience only took about a half hour for me to complete. What that did bum me out a little bit, a set of challenges do become available after each stage is completed, and there a number of different items to collect in these areas too, so there is always a reason to come back. Three bucks (240 points to be exact) may be a little steep, but trust me, this game is worth every bit of it.
If you are looking for a unique indie games experience, then be sure to download TIC as soon as possible. For more suggestions on games that we could include in this feature, please leave a comment below this post.
