Words From A Married College Gamer

Whats up TQ familia! Illmatic here with a new segment I will be doing on a monthly basis. I call it, “Words From A Married College Gamer”. Basically, I will be giving you guys the 411 on whats going on in my world. Now, before I get into this months segment, let me give you a brief profile of myself.

My name is Marc Villa and I am currently a student at Arizona State University. I am studying Business Communications with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I married my high school sweetheart on May 28, 2010. We relocated to Arizona from California on June 1, 2010 to pursue our educational goals. We don’t have any kids at the moment, but we do have a 1 year old Chihuahua (Riley) who acts as our child for the time being. At one point in my life I would have considered myself a hardcore gamer. With school and married life in my equation now, I consider myself a casual gamer at the very most.

Here is a picture of the worlds best looking Chihuahua (Riley).

Now that you know me, let me tell you whats been going on recently.

As a full time college student and also a full time employee, I sometimes find it hard to stay awake and fully functional for at least one round of whatever game I am trying to play. Now, I am a huge fan of energy drinks and coffee, but we all know that energy drinks aren’t healthy at all. So, I opted for the healthier choice of the two, and have been experimenting with different drinks on a daily basis.

Let me give you a quick look at the coffee makers that I currently own, and what drinks I am brewing with them.

Heavy Artillery

Here is a quick photo of all three coffee makers that I currently own.

Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine

This is a low priced Espresso maker aimed at the average consumer. Although it is lower in price, it does brew some awesome Espresso. The only negative that I have found with this maker is the frothing arm. It really doesn’t froth the milk the way a $1000 Espresso maker would, but did I expect it too, NO. I have been brewing a few drinks with this, mostly Starbucks rip offs. My favorite two drinks to brew with this machine are a Caramel Macchiato and the ever popular Caramel Frappuccino. Now, don’t think that these drinks taste like rip offs, I did my research and found the exact recipes for these Starbucks favorites. All I can tell you is that these drinks taste amazing!

Espresso I would recommend using with this Espresso maker:

Cafe Bustelo Espresso Coffee

Keurig Special Edition

This is a special little machine. This particular coffee maker is used to brew exactly one cup of coffee. Now, you might be asking yourself, “Why would I only want to brew one cup of coffee”. Well the answer is simple, TASTE. Unlike your mothers coffee pot, this coffee maker brews coffee one cup at a time using special brewing cups. These cups (K-Cups), have a pre-measured amount of ground coffee in them. When you place the K-Cup in the coffee maker, it automatically brews it using a precise amount of water, ensuring the best taste possible. But, this coffee make doesn’t only brew coffee, it also brews tea and hot cocoa. So far, my two favorite brews are:

Coffee- Donut House Extra Bold
Iced Tea- Celestial Seasonings Southern Sweet Black Tea

Mr. Coffee JWX23

This special coffee maker was a wedding gift from a close friend of mine. It might look like your average coffee maker, but believe me, it’s more than that. The Mr. Coffee JWX23 has a special feature that I wish all coffee makers had, BREW PAUSE. Thats right, this coffee maker can pause the brewing, allowing you to pour a cup of joe before the full pot finishes brewing. This is the coffee maker that gets the most use in my house, and also a coffee maker that would never be replaced by a single serve brewing machine. Here are the two coffees that I am currently brewing:

Folgers Black Silk

Starbucks Vanilla Flavored Coffee

So there you have it folks, the first installment in this new series. Stay tuned!

-Marc
