The PS3 Jailbreaking war is over, Sony and George Hotz aka “GeoHot” have settled in court for the lawsuit filed by SCEA against Hotz in federal court in San Francisco, California. This surprisingly comes after several videos by the hacker group “Anonymous” hit the net, demanding Sony to seize any legal actions against GeoHot and anybody wrapped up in the PS3 jailbreaking mess. Whether this was the doing of Anonymous or not, we are glad that this is finally over.
But, there are several indications that this indeed is the doing of Anonymous – first; the announcement comes only days after their demand from Sony, second; Sony could have easily raped GeoHot in court, but why did they settle? And finally, this settlement news was posted on the Sony PlayStation Blog. Since when does the PS Blog report on legal shit? Obviously, this was something major, but throughout all the PS3 jailbreaking case, not one word of it till now. Looks like there might have been some – (behind the scenes) demands. What do you think?
