Evil Controllers specializes in creating custom modded Xbox 360 controllers to give you the competitive edge in your game of choice. With all the custom controllers on the market, why is Evil Controllers thee go to company for mods?

When I first came across Evil Controllers I didn’t really know what to expect. I mean sure, they offer custom controllers, but so do a lot of other companies. After having the chance to fully review an Evil Controller I can give you my honest opinion on one of the models they offer.

The model that I reviewed was the “Stealth Adjustable Fast Reload”

At First Glance: The first thing that I noticed when I peeped out this controller was the D-Pad. It was not the stock Xbox 360 D-Pad, thank God. Instead, it was swapped out and replaced with four individual directional buttons. The next thing I noticed was the analog sticks. These weren’t the normal concave analog sticks that come standard, rather they were a convex style similar to the PS3 analog sticks. The last thing that I noticed was that this controller was no knock-off. No sir, this is a Genuine Microsoft Product.

*These are not factory refurbished. All controllers are bought brand new.

Build Quality: As I mentioned, these are Genuine Microsoft controls, modded to your liking. If you have owned an Xbox 360 then you know what type of quality you are getting here. If you have never owned an Xbox or at least held an Xbox 360 controller in your hand, please do so now. In my opinion, using an officially licensed was the best way to go. With the use of these controllers you have the peace of mind that you are getting a quality built product. The photo below shows the modding quality of an Evil Controller (Left) and the competitors (Right) modding quality.

Features: The model that I used included rapid fire, auto-burst, and a fast reload function. I know what you are probably thinking, “this is the perfect setting for any FPS”. You were right, this controller is a true king when it comes to any FPS. I sampled Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with this controller and all I have to say is…DAMN.. I can’t tell you how many people I mowed down while using this controller with auto-burst and fast reload on. I could immediately see a difference in my K/D ratio, which usually isn’t that great. The Evil D-Pad didn’t really play a significant role in my game time with Battlefield. On a side note, the Evil Sticks were spot on. The precision aiming that you get when using these sticks is noticeable almost immediately. Why didn’t Microsoft implement these sticks in the first place?

I also tested this controller with Marvel vs Capcom 3. With all the great things said about this controller during my Battlefield experience, sadly I can’t say the same is true with my experience with MvC3. It’s not that the controller doesn’t work well with fighting games, its that it works almost identical to a regular controller. Sure, the sticks are a lot smoother than the standard Xbox sticks, but this isn’t a dealmaker, nor is it a deal-breaker.

In all honesty, this controller is a must have for players of FPS. On the other hand, buying this controller for any other type of game might be hard to justify.

Pricing: At $134.99 this controller does not come cheap. With that being said, you have to take into consideration a couple of things. First, these controllers are all hand crafted. I know this because I was lucky enough to get a tour of the laboratory. Second, the mods that you are getting combined with the quality of the OEM controller make it a hard deal to pass. Lastly, after using this controller it is very hard to go back to slow reload speed and non auto-burst functionality. With that being said, I would honestly recommend this controller to someone looking to step up their game in Black Ops or Modern Warfare.

Wishes: I wish the price was a little lower as this might scare off some consumers. Although the D-Pad is a big improvement over the standard Xbox D-Pad, it really didn’t help that much in Marvel vs Capcom 3.

TQ Bottom Line: If you are a hardcore FPS player and don’t mind forking over a little extra coin, then this is the controller for you. You will not regret your purchase after the 20 n00bs you mow down in a row. On the other hand, if you are a casual gamer with a limited budget, I would look for a less expensive alternative from Evil Controllers.

Final Score: 4 out of 5 Michelas!

Why doesn’t M$ ban people that use these controllers???. This is no different then modding your console and it is s@#$ like this that ruins muliplayer games. (if M$ doesn’t let people make a profit off of modded lobbys then they shouldn’t let them make one off of modded controllers…THEY BOTH RUIN ONLINE)

I agree! I hate ppl that use this modded controllers, it makes online games unfair and frustrating for others players. I usually just leave the lobby when I encounter this. Good review thought, but now I’ll be sure to not play against you in fps games..lol…

  • @Ochoas @Creg and that’s why they are called evil.

How does the fast reload work? Isn’t all that determine by each game’s reload speed?

    • The fast reload works by programming the controller to end the reload sequence earlier. It is a combination of button pressing that programs this. Each gun is unique, so programming this varies each time. But it is not hard to do, very simple actually
