The Crysis series will make its console debut this year for both the Xbox 360 and PS3, with Crysis 2. The first Crysis game was exclusively for the PC and released in 2007. Crysis for PC was considered to be the best looking game in existence when it was released; of course the PC running the game, had to be a top of the line PC that could handle what Crysis had to offer graphically. With Crysis 2 set to release this year, there shouldn’t be any questions on the graphics and gameplay. The real question should be, “can it sell well?”
Crysis for the PC sold only 88,000 copies in it’s first 2 weeks of being released in 2007. Now, this could have easily been due to the fact that most gamers were downloading a life time trial. And another reason could have been, the lack of Alienware computers in every household to handle the game. Of course as time progressed and high end computers became more affordable, Crysis started selling well, and even passed the 1 million sales mark in early 2008.
In 2010, consoles have easily ran the gaming market. Bringing Crysis 2 for both the 360 and PS3 was bound to happen. 1 million sales in over 1 year for a top notch game is rare for a console game, expect that mark to be broken with in a week of its release for the 360 and PS3. So, can it sell well? More than likely. The question left for us; “Can it Sell well–for PC”?
