Socom 4 Officially Announced, Is MAG Dead?

Zipper Interactive, has just announced that SOCOM 4 is indeed in development and is slated for release exclusively on PlayStation 3 this fall.

Zipper Interactive is the same team that developed MAG for the PS3. Does this mean MAG is Dead? The assumptions by many when MAG was released were that– Zipper’s new focus, was now all MAG rather than another Socom game.

Jeremy Dunham replied to this very topic via the PSBlog comment pane– to those wondering what will be of MAG:

“We’re still 100% committed to supporting MAG. There’s some crossover here at the studio, but we have dedicated teams to each.”

SVER team, there you have it. Lock and reload! MAG is here to stay.

Check out the Socom 4 Details:
The game takes place in South Asian country. As the Ops Com, your mission is to command an elite five-man squad charged with stopping his aggressive agenda before it’s too late. In only six days, you must lead your team through a hostile jungle and urban environments against an army of well-armed rebel insurgents that completely out number you.

In addition, Socom 4 will serve up a 32-person multiplayer mode that boasts more Special Forces units than ever before.
